Sports infrastructure doesn't just happen.

Pro Motu is the Swiss donation platform for sports infrastructure. Clubs present their projects, you support them – and deduct your donation from your taxes.

CURRENT PROJECT

Artificial turf for FC Wattwil Bunt

CHF 30’600

Guideline amount CHF 45,000

Tax deductible

Pro Motu is a non-profit organization and therefore exempt from taxation. You can claim your donation on your tax return – for every project on this platform, regardless of whether the beneficiary organization itself is tax-exempt. You will automatically receive the certificate with your confirmation.

1% for administration

Our board members work on a voluntary basis. Therefore, we retain 1% for platform operation, in addition to the actual transaction costs. Market standard is 9% to 12%. We explain what this means on each project page.

Proof instead of promises

Each project sponsor signs an agreement regarding the use of the funds and submits a final report upon completion, including supporting documentation and photos. We publish the final report on the project page. Those who fail to submit an accounting must repay the funds received and will not be eligible for a second project.

WHY PRO MOTU IS NEEDED

More sports, the same number of sports halls

More and more people in Switzerland are participating in sports. The population has grown from 7.3 to over 9.2 million in twenty years, and the proportion of young people who train regularly is rising again. The halls, fields, and facilities have remained the same.

Every club knows the consequences: training times that are too short, halls that are already too small when they open, waiting lists for youth teams. New public buildings often take a decade or more from conception to inauguration – if they are ever built at all.

Many clubs are therefore taking matters into their own hands. They renovate, expand, and set up their own facilities, sometimes together with their municipality, sometimes on their own. Cantonal sports funds and Swisslos lottery money only cover a portion of the costs, depending on the canton and the size of the investment; the contribution rate decreases as the construction volume increases. The club has to raise the rest itself. For a small club, this is the real hurdle.

This is precisely where Pro Motu comes in. We bring projects and supporters together and ensure that as much of every donated franc as possible reaches its intended recipients – and that it costs the donor as little as possible.

Here's how it works

step 1

Association submits project

An association or non-profit organization describes the project, the costs, and the timeline. We review each proposal before it is published.

step 2

They support

You choose an amount and recommend which project it should benefit. You can pay with TWINT or card; for donations of CHF 10,000 or more, we will contact you personally.

step 3

We are deploying the funds

The association will use the funds for the recommended project. The project sponsor will provide documentation of how the funds were used, and we will publish this documentation.

WHAT YOUR DONATION REALLY COSTS

To allocate CHF 1,000, to spend CHF 700

Because Pro Motu is tax-exempt, you can deduct your donation from your taxable income. With a marginal tax rate of 30%, a donation of CHF 1,000 will ultimately cost you CHF 700. Conversely, for the same effort you would put into donating CHF 1,000 elsewhere, Pro Motu will ensure that approximately CHF 1,400 reaches the project.

Approximate value. Your place of residence, income, and personal tax situation are decisive. The deduction is limited; details under “Donations and Tax Deduction”.
